Read up a bit on them and read the Cooperative Extension Service report for your state on them as to what tyime of year is best to kill the nymphs - the ones that do the most damage and kill easiest. Can run from now in deep south to early June at northern limit of range - northern Carolinas and such.

Several types of products kill them - read instructions on appliction rate and when to apply and how often, and be sure to check particular brand with respect to what types of lawn grasses they may damage, and stay away from ornamental shrubs and young trees and flower beds unless it specifically says OK for that use.

Products known to work well - Ortho Bug B Gon Max Insect Killer for Lawn and Gardens, which is my favorite as is safe on almost anything growing tht you are not going to eat. Talstar Xtra and Acephate 75 are also reputed to work well, and did work well in field tests. Because they burrow down in daytime, your best application time is late evening when they are feeding and will encounter the fresh product.
