Question DetailsAsked on 8/13/2013

How much should a tankless water heater installed cost?

We have a current tankless water heater that was installed incorrectly and is shutting off due to venting issues. The unit is currently vented through an old fireplace chase and the plumber is saying that a new vent must be installed through the roof. Given the incorrect installment, (a drain tube to cool the unit was not placed correctly, damaging the water heater) we should also replace the tank. He is recommending a Rheem system. We do not have adequate space to install a traditional water heater unless we relocate the unit (old house).

Typically about $1000-2000 depending on capacity and brand. Running a new stack could run from $150-400 depending on your particular house configuration.
