How much should a tire repair shop be tipped?

A tip is never "necessary" unless the business forces you into it by disclosing it up front as a mandatory charge.

I suspect they would be quite surprised to get a tip - but anything up to the ordinary 10-15% of the bill tip amount would be a "normal" tip range - but I doubt more than about 1% of customers at that sort of establishment give tips. Generally tips are only given to people who give directly "personal" service - waiters, personal care workers, taxi drivers, and so on.

Also - with something like tire service, how do you evaluate their service to determine whether a tip is appropriate and how much ?
