I have a 340 sq. ft. L-shaped Room with one return. How many returns are needed for square footage?

Room is cold in winter, hot in summer.

I would have installed two 8" round ducts to two 14"x6" registers for supply and return and positioned them on opposite sides of the room. Your question is only for a return so that sizing would be a 10" duct to a 14"x10" register or a 14"x14" filter grille. These combinations would allow 300-400 cfm supply and return to that room, depending on your system duct configuration and total CFM delivery from the unit. If you are in a typically cold climate you may have floor registers which would be a completely different design but the cfm's would be the same.
