Question DetailsAsked on 6/25/2015

I'm looking to add a garage to my home and need a reliable contractor to handle the entire project.

Home was built in 1957, current garage is very small. Interested in building a new addition of the front of the current garage and turning old garage into storage/utility room.
Roofing contractor already acquired.

For a garage only, Builders- Garages and Sheds would be your category - but you are also talking about a garage conversion to a room, so you need to start with an Architect for plans for contractors to bid and build to (and to get building permits), and probably a Remodeling - General Contractor, who the Architect can help you select. Architect can also help with Planning and Zoning approval, because in many cases adding a garage in front of the existing one violates setback regulations.

You say you already have the roofing sub - this is dangerous - it is a VERY bad idea to push a sub on a GC, because anything that goes wrong with that sub will come back to bite you. You might suggest one to the GC for him to consider, but make it clear HE is the sole contractor you want to deal with - subs are his problem.
