Question DetailsAsked on 11/7/2014

I need someone to clean the brass on my lamp. Is there someone in the West Salem, WI area?

I have an antique lamp that has a brass base. It needs cleaning. It has holes in it, and the past gets behind them. I would like it cleaned and sprayed with a protectant.

Generally speaking, if an antique, your want only cleaning (gentle liquid dish soap like Dawn, with maybe soft pipe cleaners or rag to get through the holes), because removing the patina and clear-coating it will significantly decrease its value.

Many Furnishing - Refinishg and Repair shops will do this, also many Jewelry stores do tarnished metal cleaning/polishing.

Here is a prior response on brass cleaning materials which might help you too -
