I have cloth vertical blinds. How do I clean them? Is there someone who can do this for me?

If you have a breakfast bar over your kitchen sink, that is an odeal setup for cleaning cloth vertical blinds. The blinds are removed from the top by expanding the plastic "catch" at the top and pressing each blind up to unhook it. Fill one sink with soapy warm water and submerge each blind and allow to soak for a while. You can scrub very dirty blinds gently with a soft scrub brush, but you will likely find that the soapy water will dissolve most of what accumulates on a cloth blind. Your water will get very dirty quickly. You'll be amazed.

Fill the other sink with fresh water for rinsing. Go from the soap to the rinse, then (assuming you have a long bar or table nearby) lay your cloth vertical blind flat on top of a couple of towels for pat drying.

Once washed and rinsed, and most of the water is out, you can rehang them right away. The weight sewn in at at the bottom of each blind will hold the blind straight until it dries completely. You could add a little bit of starch into your rinse water, but it's not a necessity.

I've done this work in my handyman business for apartment make-ready's and charged $25.00 (along with other work) for this service. If someone wanted me to come to their house and do just that, I would have to charge my minimum service fee, which is $60.00.

Hope that helps!
