Question DetailsAsked on 11/29/2014

I need a contractor to remove fireplace and chimney and do the dry walls and floor ( Carpet and Tile ).

The fire place is between two rooms. I need to remove it and have the space reclaimed. I live in Orlando FL. Also does is reduce the value of property to remove an unusable fireplace and chimney.

Sounds like you need a Remodeling - General Contractor, because you have demo, framing, roofing, flooring, drywall, painting, maybe a bit of wiring relocation etc to do.

As to value - your favorite Realtor is the one to ask on that. Certainly, a functioning fireplace adds about $10-20,000 or so to a house's resale value. You can also find a lot of comments on that issue by googling this search phrase - resale value of a fireplace . As for a non-function fireplace, I would guess having it there certainly detracts a bit from the value unless it is in bad shape and needs to be taken out, in which case clearly removing it helps your resale vallue as is, though will still be less than if was there and functional. I would suspect in Orlaqndo this is a lot less of an effect than in a wintry area.
