Question DetailsAsked on 4/2/2014

I'm trying to find someone in the north Atlanta area that knows about shrub diseases and how to treat them.

These are shrubs that line the front of our house. When you have a problem with a tree you call an arborist. I need someone who doesn't just do a certain number of generic treatments but can actually identify the disease on the shrubs and treat it.

Arborist can treat trees and shrubs both. Many landscape centers (the large professional ones that sell volumes of plants, not box storesor potted plant greenhouses) will also be able to identify the plant and disease from a reasonable sized clipping and photo, especially if in foliage. Obviously, you need to take it is during a time of year when the disease shows clearly.

Contact your local state cooperative extension service - find their expert in plant diseases, then you can take or mail a clipping of the diseased shrub and a photo to them (make appointment first if taking in) for idenitifcation and wht treatment is best. Most states have exhaustive photo articles on homeowner trees and shrubs showing diseases and conditions and explaining treatments for them as well - some on cooperative extension service website, in agricultural states may be on a separate division of forestry or agriculture website. Should come up real easy by googling something like this - shrub disease pictures Alabama - for instance.
