Question DetailsAsked on 7/5/2012

I have a frame for a mirror where the glass broke and I'd like to replace it. Does anyone have any ideas where to take it?

it's fairly large - maybe 3 by 4 feet, not quite sure, and I got one quote from a local place which was ridiculous- over $200!!
What businesses would I be looking for?? We're in Anne Arundel County in Maryland. Thanks!!

Don't know where you went, but about $10-15/SF is normal for custom mirrors - so $120-180 for your size. If a glass replacement place can not do the job for you, I would measure the glass size exactly, then do some checking around at box stores for a mirror that you could scrap the frame on and insert into your frame - as with many items, buying a brand new complete item is generally much cheaper than fixing it. In this case you want to keep the old frame, so find a new mirror with frame that fits and scrap the new frame (or use as a picture or photo frame - individually or for a collage).

Also - Lowes (and probably Home Depot and such) have frameless mirrors - about $50 for 3x4' - I think this is what you were looking for - web link here -!
