Question DetailsAsked on 7/7/2013

I need to have furniture moved within my house, what type of service provider should I contact?

Move office furniture, a solid wood table and exercise equipment moved between 3 floors. I cannot do this by myself. Based on my initial research, it's not clear if this service is provided by movers, home organization
or "handymen". I am willing (& capable) of helping.

Got some friends who would enjoy a pizza and beer night after a bit of moving ? (Though with that route you assume liability for any injuries).

Otherwise, handyman can do it, but don't expect moving expertise. Moving companies and local packing/unpacking companies (like most nationwide movers use locally) routinely do this - the local packing company will be cheaper than a moving and storage company, because they normally just hire the packing company and tack on an additional profit. The packing and loading company will also (if so directed) bring moving blankets and heavy-duty movign pallets and hand trucks, as needed when they give you their bid. Normally about $75/hour for a 3 man crew.

Great question.

My suggestion is hiring professional movers. I realize this is a labor only move, but they will have the experience, equipment and property protection materials to do this right.

Also this is 3 floors, do you really want to take the chance of hurting yourself, damaging the equipment or damaging your home? Use professionals, cheap labor is the most expensive labor you can hire in the end.....

Also, if this is equipment that needs to be disassembled and is complicated, call a 3rd party company that does this... if you give me your city I can get you a name.

Best of luck to you. Not sure if you are in California, but we are San Diego Movers if you need movers here.

Either way, best of luck and hire good quality, peer reviewed movers.
