I have gable vents, are roof vents needed?

I am replacing my roof. Currently I have both Roof and Gable vents. Do I need to have roof vents if I already have gable vents?

If at all feasible, use ridge vents and block off the gable vents (though sometimes in confined dead-end hideaway ends of attics keeping the gable vent is desireable). Here are a couple of previous similar questions with multiple answers addressing that issue. Note with ridge vents you have to have matching eave inlet vents so the air flows from the eaves to the ridge, removing the moist and hot air - just ridge vents by themselves do little, and ridge vents with gable vents result in short-circuiting between the two so the center portion and eave area of the attic does not get the ventilation it should have.

And turtle vents are nowhere as effective or uniform in their operation as ridge vents, plus the more penetrations you put in your roofing the more chances you have for leaks - around the vent, or from rain/snow splash or blow-in through the vent.

Here are a few more links I was looking for and did not initially find, on the ridge vent / other vents issue, FYI:

You don't need any other type of vents if you have already a gable vent, gable vents mean the performance, versatility, and protection. Shop most stylish and lightweight vents on our website, we offered multiple shapes, sizes & varieties of gables such as circle, square, octagon, etc. You may visit our website for more details -
