I was gettin this home and going to fix up ourselves but didnt now we needed a permit for the inside work or the e.

We are planing ro fix up this home . we already put money into house and was going to keep fixing it . we got the electical on but now got a fine after lights were turn on. We sisnt now that we needed a permit for the inside of home . what to so now ?

Assuming you have changes in structural, plumbing or electrical planned you most likely need a building permit - if only replacing plumbing/electrical in exact same locations sometimes not. Depends on local regs and whether their permitting is keyed to public protection or revenue raising - some require permits for basically all work because they charge a % of total job cost forthe permit fee, os much more of a tax - which they then hit you with again yearly in the form of higher proeprty tax on the improvements.

If doing any structural work, or modifying electrical or plumbing you likely will need plans from an Architect (and through him, structural design and plans for structural part) - which you will likely need anyway as part of the scope of work for biddears and selected contractor to work from. If using an architect, they will commonly help you with permit application - or if using a Remodeling - General Contractor to honcho the work, commonly getting that and getting final signoff is part of his scope of work.

If applying for the permit yourself - not good idea if contractor is doing more than just architectural finishes work (painting, roofing replacement, flooring, cabinets, countertops and such) then explain you were going to DIY but now need to open a permit covering what you did that a permit is required for plus the remaining work. Generally failure to obtain a permit cost you a doubled or tripled application fee, occasionally a fixed-amount penalty. Check first on exactly WHAT type of work you needed a permit for if DIY'ing it - may not have needed a permit, IF you were doing it yourself in a home you were residing in, not just fixing up as an investment property.
