I hired a cleaning service to clean my home every 2 weeks. The charge is $34.00 per hour. They will send the same girl each time. Obviously she only gets a portion of the $34.00/hour. Should I tip her each time she's here? If so, how much? 20%?

Sounds like a pretty good deal, we pay more here in Boston.

Different services have different policies on who comes to your home, If you like someone who consistently does a great job then you should request that individual be the one to clean your home on a regular basis. No-one wants a revolving door of different people coming in and out of their home every two weeks.

A nominal $5-$10 tip is a kind gesture and/or an extra something special at the Holidays.

Sure 20% is great, but tip what you feel the person deserves. Tipping is not mandatory, but with many services is somewhat expected. Maybe buy her a gift every once in a while, shows that you put some thought into her.

I run a service related company, and the guys are always very happy to be tipped, but getting a compliment online or sent to the office goes 10x further for their psyche.

Also if you are going to tip 20% and she works for say one hour, don't give her $6.8, just give her $6 or $7.
