I'm looking for someone to knock down 2 beds and to carry the mattresses to the curb. In other words heavy duty home help.

If the contractor route did not work for you, other alternatives are:

1) got a friend who can help ? Usually bed knockdown is only a 5-10 minute job per bed with simple tools, and two people can slide a mattress out of an apartment and down stairs or into elevator themselves - they slide pretty good on edge - not good on a new mattress, but I presume these are throwouts ?

2) got a hefty man or two you know, who could use a pizza and a six-pack of his favorite beer ?
