Normally, on treadmills, either the upright arms and display portion detaches easily with just a few bolts, or it folds down on the belt part. Commonly, especially on the larger ones, they have wheels on the head end which sit up off the floor when laying flat, but touch the floor and can be used to roll it when tilted up partway. Of course, if stairs are in the middle then you need two or three people who can lift some weight to get it down the stairs - and disassembling the two parts is a good idea in that case to get the belt part as light as possible.
