Question DetailsAsked on 12/5/2015

I purchased a carport, but found I could not construct it myself. I need help. Contractor wants $1000 too much.

The carport has a steel frame and sheet metal roof which we want to place over our dog kennel. The carport measures 12' x 18' x 7'. The kennel is 10' square and the roof we made for it has started to fall apart, so we thought we would place the carport over the kennel. Unfortunately we are unable to construct it ourselves.

If you just need help (and it is basically a kit or near to) then a Handyman would be your choice for help, so you have 2 people (and maybe a bit more technical expertise) to assemble/erect it.

If needs foundations and is basically a stick-build structure rather than a quick-erest kit, then probably a Builder - Garages/Barns/Sheds would be your best bet, or a specialty local contractor specializing in erection and moving of sheds and small metal buildings.

Or maybe, if sure you have the needed materials, tools, and parts/fasteners, hold a barbecue to movie night or such with a couple of friends who are home-handy and have a "barn raising" beforehand.
