Question DetailsAsked on 10/23/2011

I recently tried to get computer internet service with comcast orxfinity and they never showed up. who would you recommend?

comcast is very expensive no matter what paln you choose because your
on a 2 year contract and customer service is not very informed about all
the plans they advertise on TV. Century link is cheaper but I don't know
how reliable it is. The old cliche', " you get what you pay for. " How true
is this when it comes to internet service ? i realize it is a crap shoot but
what is the best deal with the least amount of headaches?

Generally speaking, your options will depend on where you live due to the price wars among competitors. I was able to get a deal for $50/month for phone and internet; no contract and no price increases, no installation fees because Charter Cable is trying to compete against Bellsouth and AT&T's Uverse. If you use web-based email and don't mind the constant switching, you can go for the advertised "deals" at introductory prices until they expire, then switch to the next one. Be sure to read any and all fine print and watch carefully for deal expiration dates, or you could get some serious sticker shock! Always ask about a free modem, free installation, etc. There IS lots of competition these days, and the companies are offering deals---but not if you don't ask for them! Speak up! The worst thing they can do is say "no."
