Question DetailsAsked on 2/15/2016

Is it possible/allowed to get a retroactive building permit for a remodeled room in Poughkeepsie NY?

The 'footprint' of the home has not changed. As confirmed by real estate listing and appraisal before we bought the house (14 years ago) there was an existing bedroom with shower and bathroom. We recently updated the space and replaced the old toilet, sink and shower. I'm wondering if I needed a permit in the first place and, if so, is it possible/allowed to request one retroactively?

Undoubtedly did if it involved plumbing, though maybe not (in some areas) if DIY rather than contractor work. Below is an answer to a similar question I just did, with links to several more on the same subject FYI -
