Four I can think of -

1) lack of proper support for the new one, and possible cracking of one or the other from the unbalanced weight. Due to the weight of the water, it really needs to sit as designed - sitting in another tub (presumably with the side cut out for the door opening ?) will cause unefven point loading likely to crack it.

2) if any water gets in the bottom one (which cannot be connected to the drain any more because of lack of water for the trap, plus upper one has to drain through it) asking for stagnant water situation and a mess.

3) I can't see how you can do this anyway - how will the piping and pump and such fit into the existing one, plus you have to have access to them underneath for install and maintenance.

4) Would almost certainly void warranty if it cracks.

Don't do it - tear the old one out - not a significant added effort if putting a new one in anyway, plus avoids the hassle of cutting out for the door opening and for drain pipe.
