Is it a good thing to clean air ducts if you live in Phoenix AZ

Certainly they can get dirty in your area - though since a dry air coming in usually, mold isunlikely to be a problem unless your evaporator is running way too cold or you are running it in the winter. For dust, if you are getting a shot of dust out of the ducts when the blower kicks on, then probably yes - and also find out why so much dust is getting past your filters. Otherwise, some grit in the ducts is generally not an issue - basically with sandy grit like your area has if it drops out in the ducts that means it is not getting to your rooms and just lies there until it really builds up thick.

Of course, if you have allergen issues or a lot of dust bunnies in the ducts (particularly if migrating up and hanging up in and blocking the registers) then yes.
