Question DetailsAsked on 10/26/2020

Is a long hairline crack in newly constructed house running vertically across the middle of the room serious?

There was a long hairline crack across the middle of my great room (living room) running vertically across the middle of the room. It runs the length of the ceiling. We had contractors come in for the last two days to replace the taping and add meshing and screws every 24 inches across the room and they remudded and drywalled. Before they even had the chance to paint the ceiling over, the thin hairline crack came back. Is this more serious than just the settling of the house? Is it a structural damage? What do I need to do a as new homeowner?
