Is it normal practice to tip the work crews of your contractor? If so, how much? What if there are several crews?

I had a crew take off three layers of roofing and put a new roof on my house last December. It was cold, it snowed, they had to cover the roof each day with tarping. I figured they went above and beyond and I gave each worker $100. Call me nuts but they deserved it.

Would love to hear other answers.

It is not normal practice to tip in Nebr & Iowa for siding, roofing, windows, gutters, unless they go above and beyond the reasonable level of work. Gutter guy cleans your windows-tip him. Painter hauls garbage to dump or some other nice gesture-tip him. Roofer has heart attack coping with the weather, sorry is part of the game. Maybe buy case of beer for group of guys. Only for above and beyond-we are not a waiter living on tips.
