Question DetailsAsked on 4/13/2015

Is it necessary to remove original shingles?

Our current roof has only the one original layer of shingles that the house was built with. We are getting roof replaced, but we plan to sell the house in less than 2 years. Our house is already at the top 10% of our neighborhood in value and there are many houses with glaring maintenance issues on our street. We don't want to spend any more than we have to on this. Can we cut some of the cost by leaving the 1st layer of shingles on and putting the new layer over it?
