Question DetailsAsked on 6/4/2012

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to donate a much needed wheelchair for a Vietnam vet who has cancer, collasped lung, copd et

This is a person who went to war to protect our freedom and is in need of a wheelchair because he has become almost immobile and cannot afford to purchase one. I feel we owe our veterans all of the help they need and they're not getting it. Is there someone out there who would be willing to donate a wheelchair or sell one for a price that he could afford? He is now trying to live as independently as possible, but can no longer handle his dolamite(sp) and needs a wheelchair in order to remain in his apartment. He needs help and I hope there is someone who can offer this help.

Have you tried your local Veterans Service Organizations (Paralyzed Veterans of America, Purple Heart, Disabled American Veterans)? Many have loan closets that might have what you're looking for. I am a member of PVA.You could check their web site for a chapter near you.

Hi Jsimms,

I would suggest checking out and/or possibly making an application with the Angie's List Wishmakers program: wishmakers.angieslist.com

I appreciate this person's service to this country. My father also served this country and went to the local VA office and after some time was able to get a motorized wheel chair/scooter for free. Maybe he would be able to receive some help that way. Best of luck!

If you live in the Chicago area, I have a wheelchair that you can have.
