Assuming he has definitively refused, next steps could be (in order):

0) if he is not the owner of the repair company, call and talk to the owner - have repair cost firm quote in hand to provide to him as amount you want forthe damage

1) if obtained through a Deal or Coupon on AL, contact member care - they might help you.

2) if you are a Premium member, you could try the AL dispute resolution

3) send him a certified return receipt letter demanding a specific number of $ to pay for the repair - sending along a xerox of quote from a flooring contractor to fix the damage.

4) contact HIS insurance company and file a claim for damage against HIS policy. Again, have a firm quote for repair cost to give to them.

5) file a complaint with the state licensing board (if appliance repairmen have to be licensed in your state) - generally will not get you money back directly, but the threat of having his license suspended might get action

6) when all is said and done (final), sounds line time for an appropriate review on AL
