My IBM Selectric Typewriter needs some repair? Who does this work in my area of SE Kansas?

When I type, often, a letter will be split or blurred. Serviceman I had died.

Search www.AngiesList.com for a live repair person in your area.

Can you identify specific letters that cause the blurring? You might need to replace some of the keys, or the entire key mechanism.

OR, it might just need a good cleaning!

Seems there are several things that can gum up the works, but are fairly easy to fix. I like EASY, as in inexpensive.

Ooops. I haven't used a Selectric in such a long time that I had forgotten there is a "ball" instead of individual keys. Under the video I cited before, there are many helpful questions and answers.

Most important tip is to NOT use 3-in-1 oil, as it contains a waxy component that can gum things up. Use 30 weight motor oil or something similar instead.

Seems replacement parts can be found most often on e-Bay.

Please do yourself a huge favor and buy yourself a laptop. Selectric? Really? It's 2013 let go of the worst typewriter in past history. Someone had to be honest here.
