You tried to phone a computer tech - how novel and old school. Seriously, eMail him or text him or go to the contact area of his website and ask him.

From my experience, taking a Mac to anyone other than Apple is a BIG mistake - they are built to tighter tolerances and with less internal room than most electronics (one reason they are so popular) but that makes it a lot easier to break something messing around inside them, and only Apple certified technicians have the diagnostic software that will tell you exactly what is wrong in most cases.

Do you have a problem with the iMac, or is this just for future reference in case something goes wrong? Is the iMac still under warranty? Is the deal you're buying from the computer technician the iMac? I work on Macs, but they're a bit harder to get into, as the other person said.
