Question DetailsAsked on 8/17/2020

My contractor cashed out a deposit and didn’t start the work for 2 months. Can I cancel the contract?

I found out there was no start date indicated on the contract. The contractor keeps saying that he has an issue with the factory but ordered the materials already. Am I liable to pay for materials that the contractor claimed that he ordered already if I cancel the contract now? Can the contractor have a right to keep delaying a start date? I’m willing to take a risk of losing a deposit if I can cancel the contract without being liable for anything that I haven’t seen.
