Question DetailsAsked on 8/13/2012

My super in NYC is going to replace a toilet fill valve; what should I pay him for his labor since I am avoiding calling a plumber, etc?

We tried everything else, so it seems I need a part. I give him a couple hundred dollars (at least) at Christmas, but feel I should pay for this extra work- not really part of his job. I will ask him -- but what do you think? This is a NYC co-op.

The toilet guts should only cost between $8-15 and they're very easy to replace, even if he has never done it before. I think that it might take him about 1 - 2 hours at the most.
