Question DetailsAsked on 5/29/2012

Need kitchen cabinet recommendations....Kraftmaid? Wellborne Forest? Yorketown? Shenadoah?

I need to replace kitchen cabinets in a rental house I own. Tenants aren't always as careful as homeowners so I'm looking for a decent, but not real expensive set of cabinets that are well made. I welcome recommendations or experiences about which companies offer good quality cabinets, or, which ones to stay aware from! THANK YOU!

If you are doing a basic, cheap layout get the cheap oak faced cabinets Lowe's or Home Depot sells and have them installed. Then have them stained and 2 coats of poly put on. Paint the interior of the sink cabinet to seal it. Bang for your buck, your not going to beat it for a rental. If a cabinet is damaged you can quickly replace the broken piece or the entire module with stocked modules. They can also be dressed up with crown moding and other trim for a more custom look while staying on a budget.

If you are trying to go with something fancier and more custom looking avoid the particle board the cheap cabinets have. Look at all-wood selections and consider having a local cabinetry shop bid the project. You may get fully custom cabinets for about the same price as your ordered Kraftmaid, Shenandoah, etc. cabinets.
