Protecting electrical cords

I have a retractable awning over my patio with a remote control.  The electric cord is about 12' long.  Squirrels have chewed through both the cord and the awning.  Since getting rid of the squirrels is unlikely, do you have any ideas on how to encase both the cord and the awning when not in use?

You can replace the cord with hardwired mc (metal conduit). Any electrician should be able to do this for you.

Also, you can trap and release squirrels in most places; you may need to get a permit. You can rent the trap for a few dollars.

There are also a lot of squirrel repellant products available online from sprays to high freq. sound devices.

Good luck...
