For my money, and considering what I have heard of Home Depot and other box store jobs, they appear to be going for the lowest bid approach not the best solution, so the contractors they get tend to be bottom-feeders, to put it politely. Also, from what I understand, they basically pay on a flat scale for a job - so much for square foot, etc - so all the incentive is there to do the job quick and dirty rather than to provide good quality and service.

So - my recommendation- ask friends and neighbors and coworkers who have remodeled who they used and if they were happy with them, and google for complaints about companies, and check reviews on Angies List - under Remodeling - Kitchen and Bath in your case. And you say tile floors and remodel cabinets - by definition, this pretty much means new backsplash and countertops also (or possibly reuse existing, if feasible), and possibly considering changing sink/faucet. Also considering what you want for toekick/baseboard around the front of the cabinets, because this is generally an extra (does not generally come with cabinets).
