Question DetailsAsked on 9/22/2015

Should remodel bids cost money? What is a contractor saying when we ask for a bid and he wants $1500 for a drawing

We are trying to get bids on a 12x12 addition to the master bedroom and 2 bathroom updates. No change to existing bathroom structures.

If you are asking for a remodel bid without architect's plans, then yes it is reasonable for him to ask for money to develop the plans for your approval. The right way to do a major remodel (with structural changes) or an addition is to start with an Architect.
