Question DetailsAsked on 4/6/2015

Was our dryer duct was properly cleaned?

Just had our dryer ducts cleaned. They took less than 5 minutes.
They said it was faster because they have an innovative new hose with brushes.
I can only trust that the job was done properly.
I did not see them clean around the front of the dryer.
I opened the dryer door, and checked the pipe area under the lint filter screen.
There is still lint and debris in that area of the pipe (I can't reach it).
Should they have cleaned this area, as well?
Is a 5 minute cleaning a little suspect for this kind of job?
Or does it depend on the equipment.
Thanks!

Where did they clean it from,5 minutes total time at your home?

Normally they pull the dryer out and vacuum they vent, vacuuming can be done in 5 minutes, but not he total job. They also need to ensure that where the vent exits the house is clean and clear.

Best if they vacuum the dryer, but not all do this.

Thanks so much getting back quickly. It took them less than 10 minutes to bring the suction hoses from the truck, and less than 5 minutes to do the actual work. They only worked from the outside vent, as far as I could see. When they started, I went to the basement, expecting to keep an eye on them when they worked inside (the walls get scratched up). But they had already finished.

This method is beoming popular because it is fast, but there are many drawbacks.

They can't tell if the flex hose behind the dryer was cleaned, they do not measure or test to see the vent is now clear . No measure to see if the vent was adequate when it was installed.

And of course they don't clean the dryer and fires can start in the dryer from heavey lint.

Take a look at this video, for duct standards, it is new and not many know about this yet. But they way yours was cleaned is not the best way, in my humble opinion.
