Question DetailsAsked on 6/27/2013

What should I look for and what questions should I ask when researching basement waterproofing companies?

I live in an area with very few companies that do basement waterproofing. I live in a raised ranch that has always had some dampness in the basement, but this spring, we have had multiple full floods. We also found significant mold in one room, and hadto have the entire basement demo'd for mold remediation. We don't want to do anything until we can make sure water won't come back in.

I had one company come out yesterday for an estimate, and they said that there is a significant amount of water under the slab, which they could tell due to the number of cracks caused by hydraulic pressure. The company seems reputable, but the only other local company is owned by a family that bankrupted their last basement waterproofing business. What other things should I be researching and/or asking when researching these companies, or other solutions? I have a daughter with special needs, a tracheostomy and respiratory issues, so fixing this is my highest priority.

Thanks,
Will
