Depends of course on the number to do and especially if a ladder is needed - just for one alarm may cost minimum $50-100 trip charge by a Handyman, doing a large number in a commercial building say may run that down to about $5-10/unit or so or possibly even a bit less in large quantity of identical units.

Battery cost from $1-2 each for normal 9V batteries, more closer to $8-10 each for 10-year life lithium dioxide batteries. Combination detector/battery replaceable packs can run from $10-20 commonly - and of course many fire alarms today are made with 10 year life and non-replaceable batteries - you replace the entire $20-30 unit which adds to the materials as well as labor cost, especially if the detector is also hardwired.
