What is the best Reverse Osmosis system for our kitchen and drinking/cooking water?

We are working through solving our corrosive water problem that includes road salt -- complicated and likely very expensive. Regardless, we want to put in a Reverse Osmosis system under the kitchen sink for drinking/cooking needs. Prices and systems range from under $200 to $2,400 ! What are the benefits/features... something (?)... that would justify the high-end dealer/contractor-only installed RO system such as Kinetico?
Also, one dealer will lower the price to $1,999, but only if we buy other house filtration from them -- which we can't until we solve the whole house water problem.
