Question DetailsAsked on 4/17/2015

What is the best way to care for an outdoor wood deck? How much does it cost to wash, stain and seal a wood deck?

The wood deck looks to be in ok shape, but there is no stain or finish left at all. It needs to be revitalized to look nice and protect against the elements. We live in the north, so we go through cold and snowy winters as well as hot summers. How do we care for a deck and what does it cost to hire someone to complete the job? How frequently does it need to be cared for?

I used a combination of bleach and water to restore the color of my wood. I then used a stain and sealant I got from Lowes after the wood had been rinsed dried and lightly sanded. You can buy a deck wash but an up to 2 to 1 mix water to bleach works just as well and you can see it work on contact. Also, it costs a lot less.
