Question DetailsAsked on 4/27/2020

What should it cost to remove existing windows, re-size and re-position and install new windows?

We are remodeling the kitchen and my kitchen has a window above the sink and another one about 6 feet to the right. I want to remove the one above the sink and move the new window about a foot to the right. The other window is 70"x40" and I'd like to remove it and reframe to fit a smaller window (less width and a little taller). The new window should fit horizontally in the existing window frame but would need some space vertically. The internal painting would be done by us and the external siding is old aluminum siding that is planned on being replaced in the near future so a decent patch job to hold us over would be okay.

Assume about $400 cost to buy each new window. The house was built in the 1950s, standard split level. It's on the ground floor with easy access.
