There is a ceiling fan of a similar type currently there but the light kit went bad and needs to be replaced.

IF the light kit just went bad , why not just replace the light kit ?

IF , you replace the entire fan assembly , and the NEW FAN wieghs more than the existing , you may need to REPLACE the entire electrical box unless the old box is sufficient to hold the new wieght of the heavier fan . Contact an Electrician and ask him to check the existing

electrical box to make certain the box would hold a heavier fan before attempting a new installation. If you have the new light kit , he can install the new light while checking the Box for propriety of a new fan install should you desire to replace it at a later date .

You could expect to pay $ 75.00 to $ 150.00 for the complete process .
