What is the most reliable washer machine and is HE top loader better than front loader?

    These days, major appliances are almost all problem machines - because they cram them full of needless electronics that then either fail quickly (and expensively) or are so sensitive that they generate all sorts of false errors.

    For my money - get a Whirlpool or Maytag (or Kenmore made by them - but NOT by LG) with ZERO electronics - just old- timer and cycle selection knobs. Typically about $400 on sale, $500 normal price for normal size, about $100 less for small apartment/trailer size.

    And stay away from front loaders - I have yet to meet a person who had one that did not either fry its electrical system due to leakage, or leak through the door seals within a couple of years.
