What type of sheathing should be used under cedar shingles?

I am building a cabin with cedar shingles that won't have insulation or drywall or anything. So whatever sheathing is used underneath the shingles will be visible from the inside. I want it to look nice (not plywood) and be thick enough so that the nails won't show through. What combination of sheathing and nails should I use? Same for the roof?
