What is a typical cost for a chimney repair

The chimney is leaning from the top of the shingle roof up about 12' or so

Here is a prior similar question with answers which might help you - I would be expecting $1000-2000 cost, assuming you mean a brick chimney - possibly higher with stone. This assumes NOT in California seismic retrofit requirements zone and have to retrofit entire chimney, which could double the cost or so unless you change to a fake metal chimney.
