What is typical cost of installing a new indoor fuel-oil tank including all necessary hardware to code?

I live in Pittsford, VT. and my current tank is over 20 yrs old. I'm interested in knowing the total cost, install, pipes, removal, etc.

Varies by specific area, and especially by accessibility for your basement, especially if a reasonable-sized rectangular or oval tank will not fit through your door or the existing one has to be thoroughly cleaned to allow it to be cut apart to get it out the door. You would be sruprised how many houses have fuel tanks put in before the house is closed up, without leaving an egress door or hatch large enough to remove it 20-30 years down the road.

Here are some prior similar questions with answers which should give you a ballpark on cost - be aware you will have to decide if you want to buy or lease it from the fuel provider too, though of course lease and you are tied into them as the fuel provider for life in most areas. Pay attention in the answers which are indoors and which outdoors - indoors typically more expensive except in areas requiring an in-ground containment system separate from the tank, in which case exterior is more expensive.
