Question DetailsAsked on 7/29/2013

What would a water pump replacement cost for a Toyota Camry 09?

My 2009 Camry has 38000 miles. I started getting a noise from the hood last week. I drove it to a auto repair shop that opened the hood and quickly told me I need a water pump replacement.
I'm surprised as I thought water pump's last for at least 60k to 80k on a new car.
I"d like to know the typical cost of parts and labor in the Chicago area.

Typical replacement cost (I don't know specifically for a Camry) normally runs about $300-450.

I would check your car warranty - if you are under the extended drive train portion of the warranty (5 years/60,000 miles from what I found) then this should be covered, as it is a non-wear and tear item in the drive train, and you are in only year 4 or maybe partway into the fifth year, and under 60,000 miles. Talk to your Toyota dealer service department about this - it should be covered for only the deductible amount, which according to car and driver mag should be zero for this repair.
