Where can I go for kichen cabinets in Portland-Salem, Oregon, that are quality but less expensive than Lowes or Home Depot?

Lowes and Home Depot have same cabinet choices with same prices. Who else in Portland-Salem, Oregon area is a more affordable, quality option but also reliable and easy to work with?

You're contradicting yourself within your own question. Quality and cheap, anything "less expensive than Lowes and Home Depot," don't go hand in hand. That's why cabinet professionals don't try to compete with these stores. There may be some dealers that sell other Chinese made cabinets in your area but are you sure any of them don't contain harmful chemicals? If you're looking less expensive I wouldn't buy anything cheaper made than what the big box stores sell. Are you doing this work to sell the house? If so you may be alright. If not you'll just spend more in the long run. Don't overload the cheap cabinets. They can't take the weight that prefab units can and frequently fall off the walls. Look at quality first and then focus on the price. If the budget isn't there you may need to wait before undertaking this project.

Look on Angie's List for local suppliers and professionals to help you pick the right cabinets.

That wasn't what I was looking for. I am wondering if anyone knows of places in Oregon that make cabinets that are of similar quality or better than Lowes and Home Depot but may not be as expensive. So far I can only price shop at the two places I have found, Lowes and Home Depot. I prefer to price shop additional places and use small, local company if possible. I rather not give my business to the large chain stores who appear to have monopoly as their prices are virtually the same on the exact same cabinets, with only the name of the cabinets varying.

Gotcha. I'm happy to hear you're trying to keep local. I know nothing about these people (link below) but they are the first one's to pop up when searching through for cabinets in Portland, OR. Check out their's or anyone else reputation before you buy on Angie's List and the BBB.

Have you checked out Ikea? Good quality, low price. I've installed many of them, even in an architect's own home, and they see just as good as many muchmore expensive cabinets. Small local companies cannot produce low priced cabinets, for obvious reasons.
