Could not find a quick building code link for Garland on the web, so you will have to contact the building department.

Typically, for single-family (and in many areas, up to 4-plex) homes, on ly the door from a tuck-under or attached garage has to be fire rated - in other areas, bedroom doors are required to normally be 30 or 60 minutes rated, if fire rating is required at all. Normally required only for apartment and hotel and such entry and bedroom doors, not residences.
