Check your power switch is on, and that the master gas valve (usually about 2-3 feet off to the side of the fireplace) was not turned off.

Assuming you have not had any work done on your gas line or appliances recently that could have drained the gas in the line to the fireplace and replaced it with air, then could be an electrical or mechanical problem in the switch, or a safety thermocouple is not sensing that the pilot is burning, so prevents the gas from flowing.

Likely a plumber or HVAC contractor could solve it, but the person more likely to be able to address any problem is a gas fireplace/woodstove distributor/installer.
