Who can repair rotten wood outside around windows in the west side of Detroit area. We live in Novi

We live in Novi and are moving in 2 weeks and the inspection sited rotten wood around the outside of our sun porch windows that MUST be replaced. We need to find someone who will replace the wood only, the windows are in good shape. We leave here September 30. We need someone To do this as soon as possible. The details are: sills measure 88" wide. Need 2 sills replaced. Suggested wood: 1" X 6", 8 FT. long.

Ask your Realtor if he/she has a general contractor they recommend for this sort of pre-sale inspection work. Otherwise, depends if the sill is part of the window frame or separate - come both ways. The former, you would need a Window contractor to remvoe the window, replace the sill, replace the window, paint the sill. If a stand-alone sill or brickmold, then a handyman could do it.

BTW - 1x6 is an awfully thin sill - will split and warp in no time. Sills are usually 1-1/4 to 2 inches thick.
